Mama says I'm growing up too fast...

We spent most of February and beginning of March cuddled up inside since it was still so cold out (that is when we're not in the car driving back and forth). I had my 4 month check up on March 6. Dr B was VERY impressed with my growth and all my skills. I weighed in at 13 lb 12 oz (60th percentile) and am 25-1/4" tall (90th percentile!). Mama told him that I still really love to stand up and that I've rolled over from my tummy to my back a number of times. He said that he asks those kids of questions at 6 mo appts rather than 4...I am such an over achiever! I've gotten the go-ahead to start on rice cereal and baby food whenever Mama is ready. I am a good eater and am not starving between feedings, so I'll probably get food between 5-6 mo.

Here I am taking a little snooze in my boppy. I still sleep all night and take a couple naps during the day. I usually nap in the car, so I can spend the day playing with all my favorite people rather than wasting a bunch of time sleeping!

I discovered my feet last week. Mama didn't think I was ever going to reach my toes since I'm so long. I like to pull at my socks, but really love to play with my toes when I have bare feet. We can't wait 'til it's warm and I don't have to keep my socks on...they just don't stay up very well!

Here I am during my first walk outside in my stroller! It was beautiful on Sunday afternoon so Mama, Auntie, and Grandma took me for a little spin around the neighborhood. I ended up sleeping for most of it. It kind of felt like I was in the car, and I always sleep in the car!

Here I am just being cute in my little tunic top and floral leggings. I am 18 weeks on the dot in these pictures. I seem to be losing some of my baby hair in the front, but my bald spot in the back is finally starting to grow back! Mama thinks I'm going to have wavy hair just like her, hooray!

Auntie helps me practice my sitting skills every day. I am getting close, but I still topple over after a second or two. It won't be long before I'm sitting by myself since I'm so strong!

Other than that, we're just hoping spring gets here for good so we can spend some more time taking long walks outside. I like the fresh air! We're also waiting for Great Grandma and Papa to come meet me for the first time...I just know that Great Grandma is going to give me lots of cuddle time! They'll be here the last week of March and I can't wait!!

My weekly schedule has changed a little bit because Auntie got a full time job! I get to spend time at Grandma and Auntie's a couple days a week, and some time with Uncle Bobby and Uncle Brian a couple times a week. Wednesdays haven't changed though, it's still Daddy-Daughter time :)

As for my Mom and Dad...they're just working and trying to spend some time relaxing. Daddy's second assistant moved to a different store, so now it's up to him and his first assistant to cover all the hours. It seems like Daddy is at work all the time since he covers a lot of the closing shifts, which means he doesn't have to be to work until noon, and at that point Mama and I have been gone for 6 hours! They're trying to schedule a little family vacation for the three of us--I wonder where my first trip will be!?!

Giddyup!

This is my awesome new bouncy horse! It's on springs, so it bounces like a Johnny Jumpup, but it's hanging on it's own frame, rather than a doorway. When I bounce it makes galloping sounds and plays songs like Oh Susanna. I think I'm pretty darn cool when Mama and Daddy put me on my horse. Daddy isn't too sure about all these big toys sitting in the living room (for which we finally have new furniture and flat screen tv!)...he is in for a big surprise when I get a little older and have toys all over the place! He tried to tease Mama and tell her that I won't be allowed to have Barbies. She said "yeah right!!" I'm 18 weeks in these pictures, 3/14/09.

NOLA Baby

This one is for you Shelley and Steve--I love my 'NOLA baby' onesie and wear it quite often!! (Maya: 4 mo)

Playing with my toys

These days I like to have my feet up on everything.... A couple weeks ago on my monkey mat, I found out if I push hard enough I can make the arch pop right out of it's base! I was trying to turn around to sneak-a-peek at the TV, which I love! Babies aren't supposed to watch too much TV, but Mama let me watch my "Praise Baby" DVD two weekends ago. It was so neat--there were bright colors and shapes and lots of babies! The singing lady has a very pretty voice too (don't tell my Mom, but it was a nice break from her singing, hehe!) Mama says that I'm VERY close to rolling from my back to my stomach. My arm just keeps getting in the way!!

Auntie Sheri took these pictures of me playing with my rattle and ball. She was in the kitchen making a snack and heard me making lots of noise in my pack'n'play. My ball was near me, so I reached over and picked it up all by myself! As you can see in the last picture, I want to put anything and everything in my mouth. I'll put a combination of fingers, fists, and arms in my mouth. If you're holding me and not paying attention, I'll try to put your hand in my mouth too!

Valentine's Roll Over!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!! Just wanted to say I Love You and show off my Valentine's bib, socks, and ruffled-butt pink pants!

Guess what I figured out how to do today!!! I rolled from my tummy to my back! I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow--I'm such a big girl :)

3 Mo already!!

Our sweet baby girl is already 3 months old (as of yesterday 2/9)!! I can't believe how fast time is flying by...she is going to be crawling, walking, and 18 before I know it! Uncle Brian took these pictures yesterday while she was goofing around with him, Auntie Sheri, and Grandma (I, unfortunately, was at work!). We're LOVING every second with Maya!! She is the easiest, happiest baby. Everybody keeps trying to warn me that she won't be this way forever, but I beg to differ!

We had a very busy, birthday-filled weekend. Justin turned 28 last Thursday so we headed to Delano on Friday to celebrate with the Roskowiaks (thanks again, Nicole, for making all that food!), went to lunch with Lori and Ross on Saturday (followed by a very exciting afternoon of furniture shopping...we just can't seem to find furniture that we love for our living room), and celebrated his birthday and my mom's birthday on Sunday night at her house.

Maya continues to get bigger, smarter, and more fun every day. She is so close to giggling and we can't wait for it to happen (right now her laugh is pretty much loud breathing out of her nose)! I told Sheri today at lunch that I am wondering if she's going to be a super tall toddler...she seems to get longer and longer every day--obviously she doesn't take after me in the height department! We go back to the doctor in a month and we'll get new height and weight measurements (along with more shots). She still loves to stand and jump and is definitely ready for a Johnny Jump-up or saucer/walker, but I hesitate to put her in one while she's so little. The lady that taught our baby classes told us that babies who spent too much time in their saucers were showing signs of incorrect growth and development in their hips. Of course she wouldn't be in there all day, but I still want to check with her doctor before I put her in big-girl toys! Times have changed and they've done more studies and tests on babies than they did in the "old days", so I just want to play it safe and talk to Dr. B (I've been very good about not freaking out about baby rules/germs/etc, but I don't want to risk bad hip development!). I did have my first major panic as a mother a few weeks ago....Maya is constantly sucking on her hands or nuk and when she stuck out her tongue, I noticed that she had black spots on it. I completely panicked and jumped online to try to figure out what it was. Finally I was able to get a hold of her little tongue and realized they were just black fuzzies from our clothes/blankets/etc. Thank goodness that some little fuzzies are all I've had to worry about so far!

We hope all of you are doing well!!

Love and drool,
Maya, Shea, Justin, and Bitey

My hooded vest

These pictures were taken during lunch (with Mama at work) on Friday, Jan 30. I'm almost 12 weeks old in these pictures. I smile all the time, but these days I'm making it harder to catch on camera. I will be smiling but the second the camera comes out I get a very serious look on my face because I'm trying to figure out what it is!
