I'm 6 Months!!! (5/9/09)

I had my 6 month checkup with Dr B yesterday. As always, he was very impressed with my growth and skills. I weighed in at 15 lbs 13 oz, which puts me in the 50th percentile. I am 27" tall, which is the 90th percentile. I am tall and thin like my Dad! I had a few more shots, and guess what, I didn't even cry!!

Here is a picture of me at 6 months on the dot... 8:31 AM 5/9/09

I look like my Daddy in this picture....

Hanging out in my crib with Berniece Paulette
(No I did not sit up in my crib by myself...Mama sat me up)

This picture is pre-carrots

Still lovin' my bouncy horse :)

Me at 6 months...
  • I love to stand and jump.
  • I can sit by myself.
  • I roll both directions.
  • Tummy time--I can't pull myself forward with my arms yet, but I push against whatever my feet are touching (usually it's a couch or someone's leg). I can also scootch in a circle to change the direction I'm facing.
  • I eat very well--mostly milk plus baby food once a day, but am now being bumped to twice a day! Mama is going to teach me how to drink water out of a sippy cup so I stay hydrated when it's hot out.
  • I have slept through the night since the beginning, but have decided to wake up every night at 3 AM for the last two weeks. I just get a little hungry after being asleep since 9:30! Dr B said Mama will have to try a few different things to get me really full before bed.
  • I don't have any teeth, but I drool A LOT.
  • My long sleeves are all too short since I'm so tall. I can't wait to start wearing my summer wardrobe!
  • I put EVERYTHING in my mouth (Mama is still trying to win the battle against me having my fingers and thumb in my mouth).
  • I play with rattles, teething rings, and stacking cups that snap together to make balls. I try to play with my cat, Bitey, but he runs away when I try to pull his fur.
  • I like to stick out my tongue and spit.
  • I like going on walks in my stroller.
  • I still sleep whenever I'm in the car (Mama says 'thank goodness!' since we spend a lot of time in the car!).
  • I sat in my first high chair at Benihana and sat in a booster seat at Grandpa's house.
  • I am the happiest baby of all time...it's very rare to hear me cry.
  • I also happen to be the cutest, most beautiful, baby of all time :) Every body that walks by me has to stop and make me smile. You should see Grandma Kelly when we're out in public... she really likes to show me off!
  • Mama and Daddy are head over heels in love with me and I think they're pretty great too!!

Splish Splash I was takin' a bath!

Apparently I'm getting too big to take a bath in the kitchen sink so I've been moved to the bath tub. It is so much better!! I have room to splash, stretch my legs, and when Mama washes my hair, I don't have to be so squished. I have a few rubber ducky friends who bathe with me and I think they like when I 'chew' on their beaks. I heard some babies hate the bath and really hate getting their hair washed....NOT ME! I think the bath is lots of fun! Oh PS-Mama says she's sorry the pictures are a little blurry--she takes pictures of me with the flash off so it doesn't reflect off my skin, but when I move, the picture gets blurry.

Yum-O

Rachael Ray said it best when she coined the phrase "Yum-O"! Mama has been giving me all sorts of new foods lately--it has been SO much fun! I am very good at eating from a spoon and for the most part am not too picky. I started with applesauce, moved to peas, carrots, and pears. Next up--sweet potatoes and maybe something else that's green...green beans??

Applesauce..... is a bit tart, but I kinda like it :)

Pears..... are delicious and I ate the whole jar in no time!

Peas..... were pretty bad the first time, better the second time, and worse than ever the third time :(

Carrots....... are my favorite so far!! Notice the carrots all over my leg. Mama had the bowl a little too close to me, so I reached out to grab it and spilled on me!

Here I am making my 'new face' while I'm eating. It makes Mama laugh every time!

Do you like the carrots on my head!? Mama put me in the tub after this meal!

April 2009

Uncle Micah's brother is a pitcher for the Florida Marlins and we got to watch him on TV on Auntie's Golden Birthday (24 on April 24th!). It was such a fun evening and Josh did a great job pitching. How cool is it that we (almost) know someone famous!?! (we haven't had a chance to meet him, but maybe someday!)

I have pretty much mastered the art of sitting. If I lean too far for a toy I topple over, but I am strong enough to push up with my arms and can even scootch myself forward if I have something to push against with my feet! I am going to be on the move in no time...look out Mama!! (PS--my green onesie says "Sometimes Stinky, Always Sweet"...it's very accurate!)

Waiting for my turn in the baptismal font!

Trying to splash around in the Holy water while Father Tim baptized me

Easter! April 12, 2009

Well, I'm pretty sure I got gypped on Easter this year. I had heard about a big Easter Bunny that leaves a basket of treats while you're sleeping....all I got was a teething ring and it wasn't even wrapped. Next year that Easter Bunny better make up for it by leaving me something Extra special (hint hint Mama)!

Mama, Daddy, and I headed to St Henry's for the 8:30 Mass on Easter morning because Daddy had to work at 11:00 that day. After Mass, Mama and I jumped in the car and flew down to Woodlake Lutheran to go to church with Grandma, Auntie Sheri, Uncle Micah, and Uncle Brian (Uncle Bobby had to work too!). I was pretty good all morning, but got really hungry mid-service at Woodlake, so Mama and I had to go hang out in the hall so I didn't disrupt the service. We got to sing my favorite Easter song twice that day..."Jesus Christ Is Risen Today"!

After church we headed over to Grandpa Bob and Grandma Diane's to celebrate with the Hofflanders, Great Grandma Jan, Uncle Dave, and some of Grandma Jan's friends. I got LOTS of kisses and hugs from my family and we had a little photo shoot of me in my two Easter outfits. We had dinner at Grandma Kelly's house, but I was so tired, I had to take a little snooze while everyone was getting ready to eat.

I also got to help Mama dye Easter Eggs this year. I can't wait 'til I can get my hands in that dye next year!!
