Introducing Mr and Mrs Jones! July 25

My cousin, Kristen, was married to her high school sweetheart, Andrew, on July 25. The entire extended family was together for a week of celebrating leading up to the wedding, and it was so fun! Kristen could not have looked any more gorgeous and it is so obvious how in love they are!

Riverfest/Duck Race July 12

It's been such a fun summer so far, why would I have thought a parade would've been any different?! The last day of Riverfest always includes a parade, a chicken dinner, and a duck race. I loved the drum lines in the marching bands and the freezies that were thrown off the floats. You can see in the picture below that my tongue is a little bit purple from my first freezie!

I didn't really get to try the fried chicken, but Mama told me it was delicious and that I'll get to have a drumstick next year!

Unfortunately none of our ducks won the duck race (5000 rubber ducks are dumped in to the Mississippi and 'herded' down the river by jet skis; first place this year won a four wheeler!), but there's always next year!

Hangin' with Mama July 11

Every other weekend I get to spend all day with just Mama because Daddy has to work. We play with toys, watch Handy Manny and Phineas & Ferb (Disney Channel), do laundry and dishes, and hit the grocery store and Target.

4th of July/Delano Days 2009

This was me between the family BBQ at Great Grandma Betty and Grandpa Ray's house and the fireworks/carnival. We went strawberry picking earlier that day and all that sunshine and fresh air tuckered me out!

Luckily I woke up in time to have my first carousel ride with Grandpa Rick! I had to hold on tight because that thing was movin'!

I also got to pick a duck and win a prize. I plucked one out of the water and immediately put it in my mouth (yuck!). The prize lady gave me two pink, sparkly, stuffed fish because I'm so cute.

After the carnival, we went to watch fireworks. Unfortunately we were practically sitting on the launching pad. It was way too loud and bright for me. I didn't cry, but I had to cuddle with Mama so she could plug my ears and I could look the other way. Next year I plan on sitting much further away so we can enjoy them!

Oh I almost forgot to tell you.... I don't know if it's from the occasional taste of vanilla ice cream, but at 8 months I weigh 17 lbs 7 oz! I'm still long and lean, so I don't think that puts me in a high weight percentile, it just sounds like I'm so big! They didn't show Mama the charts this time because I wasn't really at the doctor for a check up--I was just in to have my skin looked at. Turns out my diaper has been rubbing my stomach from all the crawling I'm doing, thus irritating/peeling my skin, so Mama and Daddy have to rub Cortizone on it twice a day and Bacatracin a few times a day. Dr B isn't worried about it because it hasn't been bothering me, but seeing as it hasn't gone away for about two weeks (and spread to my butt a little bit), Mama thought it was time we make a quick visit to the doc to get things checked out. (My 9 month check up for shots and new measurements will be at the beginning of Aug.) Did I mention that I LOVE when I get a little lick of ice cream, sherbet, and popsicles?! I've been trying to have a taste of a fudgsicle, but Mama and Daddy said no chocolate for me.

Upgraded Eating Accomodations: June 29

When I started pulling myself up, I also decided that I would try to stand up while sitting in my purple Bumbo (which sits on top of the kitchen table when I'm having my baby food). Mama decided it was time to break out my high chair and it's great!! I like to sit in there even when I'm not eating because I can bang my toys on the tray.
